20-23. January 2020, was dr. Matej Rojc as MC Member of COST Action CA18231 at the Copenhagen periodic scientific meeting. We discussed about conducting research and development in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI), as virtual assistants are becoming a reality for mobile users, and are becoming more widespread in business applications as well. The dominant technology in virtual assistants is the use of deep learning models that learn from texts, examples, and other relevant data. The models we are developing are dealing with relatively long-range dependencies, complex dialogue structures, and there is much work and research left to do in combining deep learning and artificial intelligence techniques with a more complex description of external background knowledge.
