Activity description LEIS LEIS
Research in the domain of brain-computer interfaces is coming to the foreground, especially in the field of non-invasive methods of multichannel electroencephalographic signals acquisition and monitoring of rhythmic and less rhythmic cortical fluctuations to create a communication channel or indirect management of user environments, computer games, and support for disabled people. The focus of the research will be towards more specific sub-area of the brain-computer interfaces, which addresses the perception and understanding of the visual evoked potentials as a result of the visual stimulation.
The majority of research in this area is oriented on monocular visual stimulation with frequency coding, while the proposed research is focused on the design of binocular interfaces, where each eye of the user is visually stimulated separately with both frequency and binocular phase coded symbols, and the responses to a binocular visual excitation on the left and right occipital lobe of the brain are perceived. Such visual excitation indicates a potential for integration with the head mounted binocular displays that provide users more immersive experience in the domain of virtual and augmented reality.
This kind of convergence establishes new modalities to achieve more intuitive interaction and eliminates the basic limits of the interaction of the current solutions.
