Associate Professor Dr. Andrej Žgank is habilitated in the field of telecommunications. He is a member of the Digital Signal Processing Laboratory. He studied electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics, University of Maribor, where in 2003 he received his PhD in Electrical Engineering. He is scientifically active in the field of automatic speech recognition, development of voice resources, planning of telecommunication services and applications, evaluation of service quality and quality of user experience, and digital signal processing. He is the author or co-author of more than 10 scientific articles published in foreign and domestic scientific journals, and more than 40 articles published in proceedings of domestic and foreign scientific conferences. He is currently a mentor to a young business researcher, and as a co-mentor he has participated in two doctoral theses. He is a member of the Advanced Methods of Interaction in Telecommunications Research Program and is involved in the European COST project IC 1003 Qualinet. In the past, he has led the National Basic Research Project and as technical coordinator of several development and application projects with industry. As a researcher, he has participated in various national and international projects and at the Center of Excellence. He has been a member of the FERI Quality Assessment Commission since 2011. He is a member of IEEE and SDJT.
